Terms of use

These terms cover your use of childow.com. They are written to be read. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them, and to the privacy policy.

The service

childow offers free growth charts, CDC milestone checklists, checkup reports, a family circle, Name Match rooms and Recall Watch, plus public reference pages. The core tools are free, as described in our pledge. We may change, add or remove features; if we ever stop offering the service, we will give you notice and time to export your data.

Not medical advice

childow is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice. Percentiles show where a measurement sits on published reference charts; milestone checklists show what CDC says most children do by an age. Neither tells you whether something is wrong. Home measurements are less precise than clinic measurements. Always talk to your child’s pediatrician or another qualified professional about your child’s health, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.

Your account

You must be 18 or older and give accurate account details. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account. You may only create records for children you are the parent or legal guardian of, or for whom you have the parent or guardian’s permission.

Your content

What you add (measurements, answers, questions, notes, names and so on) is yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it only so we can provide the service to you and the people you share it with. You can export it or delete it at any time. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

Sharing and circles

When you invite someone to a child’s circle, they can see that child’s record, and editors can change it. Invite only people you trust, and remove anyone who should no longer have access. An invite link works for the person you send it to; treat it like a key. Name Match links let the people you share them with vote in that room.

Reference data and recalls

Growth percentiles are computed from WHO and CDC reference tables published by CDC; milestone items are CDC’s; recalls come from CPSC and NHTSA; car-seat inspection stations from NHTSA; baby-name statistics from the Social Security Administration. We work to copy them correctly and cite each source, but we can’t promise they are complete or current. Recall Watch matches are a convenience, not a guarantee: car-seat matches use NHTSA’s make and model, while CPSC matches are “possible” and need you to check the model number on the notice. Always register products with their makers. Use of government data does not imply endorsement by those agencies.

Acceptable use

  • Don’t use childow to harm, track or harass anyone, or to store information about a child you have no right to record.
  • Don’t try to access records you weren’t invited to, probe or overload the service, or get around rate limits or security.
  • Don’t scrape the site in a way that degrades it, or present our pages as your own.
  • Don’t upload malware or unlawful content.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings; that deletes the records you own. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data first.

No warranty

We provide childow as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not responsible for decisions made using it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new date and, for account holders, tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Questions: use the contact form.
