Car seat recalls
There are 74 recalls of car seats and boosters in childow’s copy of the federal recall data, from February 4, 2010 to August 20, 2026, including 71 NHTSA child-seat campaigns. 8 were announced in 2026 so far, and 9 in 2025. The most recent is “Britax B-Safe 35, B-Safe Ultra, Endeavours and 3 more child seat recall” (NHTSA 26C006, August 20, 2026).
Counted from the hazard text of each notice, the hazards named most often are choking (9), falls (4), burns or fire (4), entrapment (1). A single notice can name more than one hazard, so these counts overlap. The remedies offered most often are a replacement (35 notices), a refund (6 notices), a free repair or repair kit (6 notices).
The federal rule for these products is FMVSS No. 213 (child restraint systems), enforced by NHTSA. A recall notice names the product, how to identify it (usually a model number, a date code or a description of the label), the hazard, and what the company will do. To check your own car seat, find the label on the product itself, compare the model number and manufacture date with the notice, and stop using it if they match. Then follow the remedy on the notice.
Car-seat recalls are published by NHTSA with a structured make and model for every affected seat, so Recall Watch can match a registered car seat exactly. Register the seat with its maker too, using the card in the box or the maker’s website: that is how the maker contacts you directly.
Check your car seats and boosters every night, for free
Register a car seat, crib, stroller or anything else once. Recall Watch checks it against new CPSC and NHTSA recalls nightly and emails you if one matches. No ads, never sold.
